Placed at the ground floor of the mall, Carrefour Express has a surface of 1.215 sqm out of which 905 sqm represent the selling surface. This is the second supermarket opened in Prahova County, offering 40 new jobs in Ploiesti.

The French group Carrefour has signed in March 2009 a first contract with the Winmarkt network, in order to be present in 3 of the 15 locations that Winmarkt holds in the main cities of Romania. Up to this moment Carrefour Express has opened supermarkets in Turda and Bistrita, the inauguration in Cluj being set for 2010.

In the autumn of 2009 the two partners have signed a new contract, this time for the location in Ploiesti. Following this, Carrefour opened its doors on the 4th of December 2009.

"Winmarkt partnership offers a new perspective over the supermarket network that is in full development at this moment," said Andreea Mihai, marketing manager at Carrefour Romania.

"This new collaboration comes as a natural consequence after the success obtained with the other two supermarkets in the Winmarkt network, that have led to a substantial traffic and interest increase for our shopping centers", said Alina Bescheret, commercial manager Winmarkt.

A similar partnership was reached with the discount retailer miniMAX, which secured its presence for the next 4 years in 4 Winmarkt shopping centers from Buzau, Braila, Vaslui and Tulcea.

Winmarkt is a network of 15 shopping centers in 13 cities in Romania. It has been acquired in 2008 by the Italian company Immobiliare Grande Distribuzione, in a transaction of over 182,5 million euro.

Carrefour Romania entered in the supermarket segment in 2007, by taking over the Artima company, that held 21 stores in western Romania. Carrefour has registered in Romania sales of 532 million euro (including VAT) in the first half of 2009, an increase of 4,8% in comparison to the similar period of 2008.
